As a poet, she is an exception in the sense that she does not intend to create gimmicks in her imageries. After all, she is an upcoming and promising new soft voice in the midst of a chaotic poetry scenario of Bengal.
Ishita Bhaduri, Great-grand-daughter of Poet Jatindra Mohan Bagchi, born on 4 May 1961, at South Kolkata, West Bengal.
Started her literary endeavor during the early eighties. Later works includes short stories and travelogues. During the eighties, edited a magazine named “Thungri”. Edited “Chharaa-Taraa”, a collective volume of rhymes & published for 3 years continuously. Also wrote at times under the pseudonym “Senjuti Bhaduri“.
Her longing to tour around the world has taken her to many places in different countries, at times more than once.
Recipient of the Paschimbanga Bangla Academy (Anita-Sunilkumar Basu) Award 2005 and the Poet Gouranga Bhowmick Memorial Award 2004 instituted by Upalabdhikatha magazine.
She has 18 published books to her credit which includes poems, short stories, travelogues & other edited works. Some noted ones are Shabdey Raktey Aanguley, Tomar Chibukey Ishwar, Athaba Brahmakamal, Eucalyptus Gandha etc. She has edited “Jatindramohan Bagchi/125” which is a commemorative volume on Poet Jatindra Mohan Bagchi. Her collection of short stories “Pakhir Paalak” needs special mention. “Saaheb Subor Deshe” is an interesting travelogue based on her tour to U.K. & Europe. A collection of her selected poems “Prem O Biraher Kabita” has been published from Dhaka, Bangladesh by Jonaki Prakashani during the monthlong event Amar Ekushe Boimela 2006.
